Fear of Rejection - Explained and Solved

How does one define fear of rejection? The fear of rejection is the type of fear that one irrationally feels when one is afraid that other people may not accept you when you are just being yourself.

How does one react when one possesses fear of rejection? There are several ways:

1)One might be motivated to be more cautious than is normally expected when one is dealing with other people.

2)When you fear rejection, you might be pressured to say or do things just to be accepted, even when what you say or do go against your own beliefs or stand.

3)People who fear rejection are overly-concerned about what other people say, do or how they react to the individual in question, to the point that they may be paralyzed in speech or action.

4)You may feel your creativity, productivity and freedom of thought to be constrained when you experience fear of rejection.

5)You may opt to adopt the norms of the group exerting peer pressure on you and causing you to feel fear of rejection. This is particularly common among young people who crave a great degree of acceptance from their peers.

How do you know when you are experiencing fear of rejection? people who have this fear generally exhibit some recognizable behavior patterns.

1)Such people may display zero to little assertiveness among their peers.

2)They fear expressing an opinion especially if it differs from that of their superiors or people they admire.

3)They find themselves unable to prevent or bar others from pursuing self-destructive actions and behavior. This is common among groups of alcoholics or drug addicts.

4)They are easily persuaded to pursue behavior that fits the group norm, even when such behavior does not match their personal value system.

5)People who have fear of rejection may resort to passive-aggressive behavior, such as becoming sly or dishonest. These people do not resort to open communication to get what they want.

6)Such people generally express dissatisfaction or unhappiness with the conditions they live under - however, when encouraged to take a more confrontational approach to people who they fear, they refuse.

7)People who have this fear often resort to masking their true identity, because they are afraid their true identity will cause them to be rejected by the people around them.

8)They keep trying to adhere to prescribed styles and modes of behavior to the point that they cannot switch to other alternative forms of behavior.

9)People who fear rejection are transformed into habitual liars because they not only lie to themselves, they lie to other people as well, in order to maintain adherence to behavioral norms.

If you find that you may be acting out of a fear of rejection, there are different things you can do to eliminate this fear:

1)Identify what causes your fear of rejection.

2)Determine what are the behavior patterns that result from this fear of rejection.

3)Identify any alternative forms of behavior that you could adopt instead.

4)Find out what existing obstacles could hinder you from trying out these alternative forms of behavior.

5)Determine if these obstacles are irrational beliefs or rational beliefs. If they are irrational, you might have to seek professional help from a counselor or psychologist.

6)Rational beliefs are founded on existing factors - for example, if your fear of rejection from your peer group is founded on the fact that they will do something violent to you, that is a rational belief based on your experience. Rational beliefs should not be ignored because the cause of the fear is real. You may want to seek help from a person in authority when this is the case, such as assistance of a police officer or lawyer.

Nobody should live under a cloud of fear. If you have fear of rejection, maybe it is time to do something tangible about it.

How To Play Better Golf... It's Not What You Think

playing better golf is the lifelong pursuit of every golfer on the planet. Why else would we subject ourselves to one of the most humbling games (sport) ever?

I mean, how many times have you come off the course ready to give it up?

Im dead serious!

You drive home saying never again! Butyou go to the range the next day, or even the same day, after youve cooled down.

man, what a glutton for punishment! Just hours before, you got totally humiliated, and now youre back for more.

The vicious cycle a golfer goes through every season.

So let me guess. Youve bought equipment (lots of it). Taken lessons. And pound hundreds of balls every week.

Am I close?

The 6 million dollar question ishave you gotten better? Are you happy with your game? Are you driving it as far as youd like?

If not, what now?

Theres only one thing left.

YOU!

Youre body is keeping you from the game of your dreams. The game you know youre capable of playing. Doesnt that make sense? If youve tried all the above and still are not satisfied.

Heres what you have to doimmediately!

Diagnose your limitations. Is it strength? Is it flexibility? Or how about stamina? You know its a strength issue, if your swing mechanics are good, but youre not hitting the ball any amount of distance.

Its a flexibility issue if you if you cant perform consistent swings with proper mechanics. And its obviously a stamina issue if your back nine is worse than your front nine.

Once you come up with your personal limitations, youve got to set up a program, or search one out that will get you on the right track and not hurt your game.

Working on your limitations will get you the quickest results, in the shortest amount of time. Youll be amazed at how much better your swing is and how much farther youre hitting the ball.

Your golf will become enjoyable again, and youll wonder why you didnt take this approach years ago.

Remember, its NEVER too late to start!

NEVER!

So get to it right now!

Dependency On Results

It's good to care about how you're playing because that's what makes golf fun, but there comes a point where you care too much or you care about the wrong things. Playing to impress people counts as one of those things. I would call this "ego golf".

You know you're an ego-golfer when your happiness hinges on your success on the golf course. When the good shots provide emotional highs and the bad shots make you feel depressed. A simple round of golf can be an emotional roller coaster for the serious ego-golfer. If you find that your good shots make you feel the desire to snap your clubs and throw them into the nearest pond then the diagnosis is coming out positive for ego golf. But you know you've really got it bad if you lie awake the night before a tournament worrying about your performance. (That has been me at times).

Other signs of the ego-golfer include bragging about your achievements and making excuses for your failures. And anything that involves straining to hit the ball further than your playing partners for no reason other than to see the look of awe on their face and know that you are more of a man than them. Alright, I still enjoy that one, but hell who's perfect ;).

The irony, the bitter irony, of this whole situation is that being an ego golfer makes you play worse. It's utterly self defeating. You get tense, nervous, sometimes euphoric and sometimes angry and make a lot of bad decisions. And golf really isn't much fun any more because as we all know golf has a nasty way of knocking you down one way or another.

Fortunately there is a definitive test to determine whether you are an ego golfer, which happens to be the cure as well.

Here's what you're going to do:

It is incredibly easy. You are going to play a really bad round of golf. Intentionally.

If a normal round for you is 80 then go out and take 100. If you're normal round is 90, aim for 110... go crazy and shoot 120, you get the idea. The whole point of this is to play about as well as the average baboon on ecstasy and have your playing partners believe that you are really trying.

A golfer who has no desire to impress anybody will probably find this an amusing thing to do, but overall it won't be a big deal at all. Maybe even a bit pointless.

However for an ego golfer this could be a huge epiphany. It can completely destroy the mindset of trying to impress other people. To intentionally play badly in front of others is the ego's worst nightmare, right? Topping the ball off the first tee in front of a large crowd. But soon you'll realise that nothing bad happens at all when you do this. Playing badly does not hurt you. The worst that can happen to you is people will playfully joke about it with you and that's just fun. In fact, you'll probably have a great time without the pressure of needing to impress people.

The key to this process helping is to make it seem believable to other people. If they find out what you are up to the whole thing will be ruined. Your acting must be on top form. If somebody mentions how badly you are playing appear to be distressed and be all like, "Yeah, I don't know what's wrong with me." If your ego forces you to tell someone well then you'll just have to do it again!

If you're feeling conservative just do this on a practice round but it's most effective to do it in a competition and completely screw up. Get the dreaded point one on your handicap. The most bold amongst you will do it whilst playing foursomes when the need to impress is highest. NOTE: www.goodatgolf.com will not be held responsible for any bloody noses inflicted by your partner's fist after you have hit two of his brand new ProV1's out of bounds, followed by lipping out from 4 inches for birdie after he has hit the best approach shot of his life.

But seriously, try this out. If you're scared all I have to say to you is you must be an ego-golfer, otherwise you wouldn't care! That's right I have you now, mwahahaha. Meh.

Happy hacking to one and all.

Why Not Stay On A Golf Resort For Your Holiday?

Many people that look for holidays in Spain are now booking it all themselves. Flight, apartment, villa or farmhouse and car hire. There has been an increase in this type of holidaymaker in recent years; almost 30% of all holidays to Spain are now DIY. Too many visitors are fed up with returning home from their package holiday with illness and complaints about the hotel or the package holiday company.

So what sort of property is being sought after by this growing multitude of DIY holidaymakers? The range is massive. Depending on size of the group travelling they could be staying in 4 or 5 bedroom villas, 3 bedroom apartments or in rustic farmhouses that have been renovated.

But what has all this got to do with golf resorts? For some reason non-golfers tend to stay away from booking a holiday on a golf resort. Yet they offer a great selection of accommodation; from villas and townhouses to apartments; from one bedroom to 6 bedrooms. Many of the resorts are not far from the beaches. The vast majority of people that book a DIY holiday also rent a car so getting around is much easier. Most of the golf courses are within a ten minute drive from the beach. Many of the properties are cheaper than beach-side properties. Some of course are more expensive, particularly penthouse apartments in the Marbella and Puerto Banus area. But like anywhere, generally speaking the more you pay the higher the quality of the accommodation and the golf resort.

Listed here are just a few of the numerous golf resorts in Southern Spain. Stretching from near Gibraltar in the west to Denia in the east. Most offer facilities other than golf so the non golfer can have an equally great stay as the golfer. To the west of the Costa del Sol is Costa Esuri golf Resort. A magnificent new resort that offers a host of activities. With the Portuguese and Spanish Algarve close by what a great place to stay.

Los Arqueros golf Resort is only 10 minutes from Marbella. It was the first golf course to be designed by Severiano Ballesteros. They offer a whole range of activities other than golf. Including saunas, gym, tennis, swimming pools, restaurant etc. Los Naranjos in Nuevas Andalucia near Marbella is one of Spains best golf courses. World famous golf course architect Robert Trent Jones Sr. Los Naranjos offers very similar facilities to Los Arqueros. Some properties can be viewed via the other links.

Further along the coast in Almeria and the Costa Blanca prices can be a little less, both in terms of green fees for the golfer and property rates for the general holidaymaker. Again most of the resorts in this area are only a short drive to the beaches. Almeria, Valle del Este golf Resort Costa Blanca, Mosa Trojectum - Villa.

Villamartin and Las Ramblas golf resorts are well established resorts catering for everyone not just golfers.

Staying on a golf resort also opens up many others opportunities to do things apart from the beach every day. As many of them are a little inland they offer incite into life away from the beach. A short drive in any direction apart from towards the sea will find you in a small village with its quant little bars. Staying on a golf resort can offer an opportunity explore parts of Spain that far too many are unfamiliar with. Remember you DO NOT have to be a golfer to stay on a golf resort. BUT if you are, many of the owners can arrange your golf for you, sometimes at reduced rates.

I hope that this short article will offer some of you considering a DIY holiday to Spain to perhaps consider staying on a golf resort for a change. You never know you might even give golf a try! Enjoy your stay where ever you visit.

There are many properties available if you want to look for something just click on one of the above links. golf resorts covered on the web site: Los Arqueros, Los Naranjos, Mijas, Alhaurin, Miraflores, Esuri, Sotogrande, La Qunita, La Reserva de Marbella, Riviera del Sol, La Cala, Los Jardines de Santa Maria golf, Selwo Hills, Aloha Gardens Resort, Valderama, Ribera del Rio, El Saladillo, Valle del Este, Alboran, Los Altos, Playa Gol, La Finca, La Manga, Mosa Trajectum, Las Ramblas, Villamartin, Playa Serena, La Torre, Oliva Nova golf, La Sella
